Hello!

My name is Janice, and I’m 19 years old. I was born and raised in Canada, and I currently attend the University of Toronto. My hobbies include volleyball, biking, singing (not well, but in the shower) and baking, and I am generally up for trying any activity!

First, let me tell you a funny nickname of mine - Banana. That’s right, yellow on the outside, white on the inside. Despite my Asian (“yellow”) exterior, I am completely Canadian (“white”) inside, which just goes to show how much I have been deprived of my Taiwanese culture, being mostly exposed to a Western environment. I feel like I do not know enough about this fascinating country, and I am eager to learn more about Taiwanese culture, which is why I chose to do this internship in Taichung.

Furthermore, being a child whose educational journey was fueled by the support given by my teachers, I have always looked up to teachers as my role models. The way a child’s educational environment is formed is integral to how he or she will grow up to become. As a teacher, it is your job to shape these children’s journeys and help them become the unique individual they aim to be. It is a challenging yet rewarding profession, which is why I wanted to take on this teaching internship. Doing this internship has only solidified my aspiration to work in the field of education one day, and change the lives of my students!

I hope the students and teachers of Wan Feng Elementary School enjoyed my company as much as I enjoyed being here, and hopefully they learned a little something from my English classes :)
